PETERSEN MEDIA- For the third week in a row, Tommy Tarlton found himself standing in victory lane at the Ocean Speedway Watsonville, and Friday it was in impressive fashion as he charged from his eighth starting spot to do so.
Timing in fifth quick, Tarlton ran second in his heat, and lined his Corporate Lending America/Tachi Palace and Casino/Sharp Insurance machine in the fourth row for the feature event.
With his work cut out for him, Tarlton slowly moved up into the top five as caution flags marred the early portion of the race.
Once underway, Tarlton seemed to be on a mission as he was able to make moves on a track that was tough to pass on.
With five to go, Tarlton found something that no one else seemed to be able to find as he chased down early leader, Andy Forsberg, and motored aaway to an impressive win.
The win was The Terminator’s fifth at the track, sixth overall in 2012, and third in a row.
Saturday Tommy and his Tarlton Racing team headed to the Kings Speedway to take on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series, along with teammate, Jason Meyers.
As fate would have it both Tarlton Racing cars lined up in the same heat, and Meyers was able to drive from sixth to third, and Tarlton went from eighth to sixth.
Meyer’s run was good enough to make the redraw, where he would pull a seven, while Tarlton was forced to run the B-main.
In the B, Tarlton was able to score the second spot, and get the transfer to the feature event, but following the B, the team made an engine swap, which forced Tommy to forfeit his 17th starting spot and put him in the 22nd spot.
During the feature event, Meyers slowly worked his way forward, as he found himself in the third spot with just three laps remaining.
Coming to the white flag, Meyers was able to get his Tarlton and Son/BG Lubricants/Bandy and Associates machine underneath Jason Johnson for the second spot as he then looked to chase down the leader on the last lap.
In what looked like an overwhelming defecit, Meyers closed it up in a hurry in the final pair of turns but just wasn’t able to make it stick, and settled for second.
“Tonight was a bunch of fun,” said Meyers. “The Tarlton’s are giving me an awesome opportunity in going back to Knoxville, and it is just fun to come out and run well. I have to thank Junior Bowman for lending us this 360, I just wish we could of gotten the win in front of the home crowd.”
Mean while, Tarlton worked the top side of the speedway as he carved his way up to the tenth spot as he battled the likes of Steven Tiner and Seth Bergman.
After putting on a nice run from the back, it all came un done, as Tarlton came to a stop in turn two on the 25th lap as he had lost all of his tear offs, and ended up in the 16th spot.
Sunday night, Tarlton made the solo trip to the Santa Maria Speedway to close out a busy stretch for Tarlton Racing, and again Tarlton drew a high heat race pill and found him self starting seventh in his heat.
Able to work his way up to the fifth spot, Tommy lined his machine up in the 16th spot for the feature.
Tommy was marred in thick traffic, and was battling for the 10th spot again, when he collided with a lapped car, and he was sent to the back, and ended up finishing in the 16th spot.
Tommy would like to thank Corporate Lending America, Tachi Palace and Casino, Sharp Insurance, Bandy and Associates, Pro Signs, BG Lubricants, K&N Products and Astro Titanium for their continued support.
“It was a decent weekend,” said Tarlton. “It was awesome winning another one in Watsonville, I just wish we could have had a better showing against the National guys.”
