PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of his Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21 machine on Friday night during the Howard Kaeding Classic, Tommy Tarlton recorded an 11th place finish.
“There was a controversial call during our heat race, and I feel like it dictated the rest of our night,” Tarlton said. ‘We voiced our opinions a little bit and finished mid-pack eventually.”
30 cars would check into the pit area for the opening night of the 5th Annual Howard Kaeding Classic, and Tarlton opened his night up by getting his Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Pabco Gypsum/WFO Apparel entry timed in 12th fastest.
Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Tarlton would get the jump as the green flag dropped, but the yellow flag quickly flew and it was deemed Tarlton had too much of an advantage as the filed entered turns three and four, and he was penalized a row.
Finishing third in his heat race, Tarlton would go from a potential Dash starting spot to lining up in the seventh row for the 30-lap A Main event. With a rough and narrow surface along with Tarlton still being a little tender from his injuries, he opted to take it easy as the race came to life.
Not doing anything too daring from the middle of the field, Tarlton would focus on making laps and getting back into racing shape as he raced around the Top-10 during the duration of the feature. With only one yellow flying on this night, Tarlton would eventually take the checkered flag with an 11th place finish.
“The issue in our heat did not sit well with me, but after being out with an injury, I owed it to our partners to continue on during the night,” Tarlton said. “I really have to thank Paul Baines and my crew for getting me comfortable in the car again, and hopefully we can be up front contending for wins in our next race.”
Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, WFO Apparel, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2015 season.
ON TAP: Tarlton and his team are unsure of his next race at this time. When a decision is made, an announcement will be made on the Tarlton Racing Social Networks.
