PETERSEN MEDIA- To sum up Tommy Tarlton’s season debut in one word it would be rusty. Returning to the seat for the first time since August, Tarlton would take on the World of Outlaws at the Ocean Speedway where he finished 18th.
“I just spent much of the night shaking off the rust,” Tommy Tarlton said. “I didn’t time in very well at all and the rest of the night was just me trying to get acclimated again.”
With 25 cars at the Ocean Speedway for the World of Outlaws first visit to the Ocean Speedway since the 2007 season, Tarlton would have a rough qualifying session.
Lining up sixth in his heat race, the Easton, CA driver would get his Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino machine into the fifth spot, but would miss out on the transfer into the feature event.
Forced into the night’s semi, Tarlton would again finish fifth but this time it would be good enough to lock him into the 35-lap ‘A’ Main event. Lining up in the 23rd starting position, Tarlton would find himself battling with Chase Johnson and Sean Watts and the race came to life.
Continuing to get back in to racing form as the laps clicked off, Tarlton would slowly pick up a few positions as the laps clicked away. On a heavy surface, Tarlton would pick up an 18th place finish when the checkered flag flew on the event.
“It was good to get back in a racecar, and I am looking forward to doing it again this Friday night,” Tarlton added. “It was a tough race to make our debut at, but I think it will help us a lot coming into this week.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2016 season.
