PETERSEN MEDIA- For the second week in a row, Tommy Tarlton’s night would end with him parking his patent matte black Tarlton Motorsports entry on the Ocean Speedway front stretch as he finished in the third spot after a hard fought 30-lap feature event.
“We had a really good car on Friday night and I thought we were on our way to our first win of the year, but we came up a little short,” Tommy Tarlton said.
Friday night at the Ocean Speedway the man in black would time his Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21 machine in 11th quickest in time trials before picking up the all-important heat race win.
Earning a spot in the Dash by way of his win, the Easton, CA wheel-man would finish in the second spot, which would line the Tachi Palace and Casino/Pabco Gypsum/Bandy and Associates machine up on the front row of the feature event.
Lining up alongside Andy Forsberg for the 30-lap tilt, Talton would settle into the second spot as Forsberg was out front early. Seeing Forsberg come into contact with a spinning lapped car, Tarlton would find himself in the race lead once the action resumed.
On an extremely racy track, Tarlton would open up a sizeable lead at times, as it appeared that he would be the car to beat on this night. With the racing action heating up behind him, Tarlton would continue to set a torrid pace out front.
As the race began to come to a close, Tarlton would soon feel pressure from two of his toughest competitors, Shane Golobic and Brad Furr. On the 26th lap Golobic would make his move around Tarlton, and on the 27th lap Furr would put Tarlton back to the third spot.
With the top three fighting relentlessly for the final three laps, Tarlton would bring his machine home with his second consecutive third place finish.
“To lead like that and not get it done is a little disappointing, but we are getting stronger each and every night,” Tarlton added. “My guys have been working hard and I really wanted to get this win for them. We will enjoy a couple of weeks off and see what we can do when we come back.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2016 season.
ON TAP: Tommy and the Tarlton Motorsports team are scheduled to be back in action at the Ocean Speedway when action resumes on Friday night, June 10th.
