PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the seat of his potent Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 machine, Tommy Tarlton would pick up a sixth place finish on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway.
“The track stayed pretty quick all night long and we were just a tick too tight,” Tarlton said. “Paul Baines and the guys worked hard all night long, and I think were going to try some things this week to see if we can get a little better.”
Timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc/Executive Auto Sales entry in ninth fastest in qualifying time trials, Tarlton would race his way to the win during his heat race.
Moving into the all-important Dash, the Easton, CA driver would finish in the third spot, which would place him in the second row for the 30-lap feature event. With the track not going away as much as Tarlton and his crew had though, Tarlton’s entry would just be a little tight on this night, making it tough to maneuver forward.
With some added star power in attendance on Friday night at the Ocean Speedway vying for a spot in the Johnny Key Classic, Tarlton would find himself battling hard with the likes of Ryan Robinson and Tyler Walker.
Searching around the ¼ mile speedway looking for a line his car would like, Tarlton would close his night out with a sixth place finish on this night.
“It was a fun, and fast track, but we just didn’t go far enough in our changes,” Tarlton said. “We have another shot at it next week, and I am looking forward to getting to Hanford.”
Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2016 season.
ON TAP: Tommy will return to action on Friday night as he will make his season debut at the Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA.
